Intel Matrix Storage and 2x Kingston SSDNow V by RAID1

Hello

I get finally both working SSD drives. One was broken at beginning.

Now I put those to RAID1 mode and Operation systems is installed on those. I like that speed now but there is one problem.

I restart Windows and after boot, Matrix Storage Manager shows information that one SSD drive has dropped.

Test 1: Unconnect SATA cable and put it back. Not working.

Test 2: I try use that same drive with USB-ATA adapter and still missing that drive.

Test 3: I unpowered SSD and plug it back and then used with USB adapter and it came alive. so to next test.

Test 4: I restart that SSD and connect it back to MB and now Matrix Storage manager shows it and start make RAID1 to alive.

Is that problem in RAID controller or SSD drive?

Motherboard: Intel DQ35JO, 2x SSDNow V 64GB on ports 0 and 1 at RAID1, 4x Seagate ST3500630AS 500GB ports 2-5 at RAID5.

Re: Intel Matrix Storage and 2x Kingston SSDNow V by RAID1

Hello,

The best thing to start with is to make sure that everything is fine with the board, onboard raid controller and software utility.

In order to do this, you may need to carry out several tests.

Unfortunately, i have not tried this board with SSD, however i have used sata drives in different raid configuration.

Test 1:
Before performing any test, make sure that you have a complete separate and verified backup of your data.
- Dont use any adapter for the SSD.
- Disconnect your 3 SATA drives (RAID 5). Make sure to connect it back to the same sata ports when you have completed all testing. For example: hdd1 connected to sata port 0, hdd2 connected to sata

port 1 etc.
- since the board has an integrated RAID controller, install the latest bios version as it is best to have the latest board, controller firmware.
The new bios version is V1126.

Preferably, it is best to update the bios using the recovery method if possible.

- Once Bios has been updated, make sure to set the SATA drive configuration in the bios as RAID, as it may go back to IDE by default.
- Install the latest Intel Matrix Storage Manager Utility

Check if the SSD raid configuration is online.
Check what happen if you change the SSD to another SATA port.
Try different sata port combinations.

Test 2:
- Disconnect the SSD.
- COnnect the 3 sata drives to the same sata ports as they were before.
- Check if the raid configuration is online.

All the best,

Kind Regards,
Aryan.
